MCH Women in Horror Month Movies Day 2: The Silence of the Lambs

Silence of the Lambs is a movie that, even if you have not seen it, you probably know a lot about it. It was only the third film in history to win Oscars in all the top five categories; Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. It was also the first horror film to win Best Picture award.

The movie was released just three years after the book was released. It tells the story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) who must get convicted killer and cannibal Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) to help her stop and catch a new killer, James “Buffalo Bill” Gumb (Ted Levine).

This is an interesting cat and mouse tale, with several twists and shocking scenes. This was a perfect example of a horror movie being “more” and showed horror could be art.

Also, the moth on the poster is not what you think it is.

Of course this is a masterpiece and should be viewed by all, so go watch it now if you haven’t seen it!
